Whiteboard Wednesday Ep. 21: SEO For Beginners

On this week’s Whiteboard Wednesday, Randy talks about SEO and driving online traffic. The main goal of any company is to have what you’re marketing in front of the consumer’s eye. SEO is designed for long-term purposes and the ability to be seen online. Try starting with the perfect domain name. Beginners, don’t get frustrated! We are here to answer any questions you may have.

5 Things to Know if You’re an SEO Beginner

1. Domain Name

Google Domains is a great resource for choosing a domain name. Google domains are inexpensive in comparison to other domain companies. Your privacy settings are free, and it’s an easy way to hook up Google analytics and other SEO data tracking plugins.

2. Content & SEO – Maybe the Perfect Pair?

All of the content on your website should clearly outline what you do, your mission, your services, and everything customers should know about your business. Make sure it’s keyword-filled to help you gain domain strength.

You gain domain strength based on how much traffic goes to your website. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, Content. Is. King. Valuable content that relates to customer searches increases your ranking and ability to be seen online.

3. Tags & Navigation

Ensure that the main menu on your website is easy to navigate and that all of your images are tagged correctly with keywords. This is extremely important for customers as well as SEO. You want to be organized and clear so people can find what they’re looking for quickly and easily.

4. Use Legible Fonts

Use a font that is easy to read! Something that Google can read and easily understand what the copy is all about. If you have a font that is difficult to read, it may push you lower on the Google search engine pages.

5. Have a Strategy in Place

You have to have a strategy in place. Anyone can write content and push it live on their website. However, in order for people to find you online, you have to have an SEO strategy that will drive traffic to your website.
